Caolin, egg shells | 2018

 

One of the most common waste materials are eggshells, that are dumped every day in the whole world, whether coming from private homes, restaurants, bakeries, or in the food industry. Looking at them as an unused resource, I chose the eggshells for a deeper exploration and tried to transform them into an industrial material that can be used for various purposes and replace other non-recyclable materials. In this examination I discovered many qualities and uses of this material such as calcium supplementation, medicinal properties for animals and organic fertilization of plants. This led me to design a plant pot which will be 100% biodegradable, and at the same time serves as nutrition. By this also the plastic is replaced which is unnecessary for a product with such a short life.
